MERIDA - CANAIMA..... Venezuela High Lights (9 Days Tour) This tour is special for those who wants to discover the most impressive and beautiful sites of this exotic and full of contrasts country... 1st Day: Flight from Maiquetia to Merida Arrival at the Simon Bolívar international airport around 14:00 hours, transfer from the international airport to the domestic one. 16:45 hours Flight to Mérida capital of the Venezuelan Andes, transfer from the airport to Hacienda El Carmen, a 150 years old working coffee plantation where you will learn about the history and processing of the coffee. Diner, briefing and overnight stay. 2nd Day: Mérida In the morning we will explore small Andean villages and the high mountains (paramos). After lunch opportunity for light trekking or horse back riding to glacier lakes. You can purchase all kinds of local Andean arts and crafts at little markets. Diner and lodge at Hotel Los Frailes a world class mountain lodge built on the site of a 17th century monastery. 3rd Day: Mérida Today we will visit Laguna Mucubaji, one of the largest lake in the state of Mérida, then trekking or horse back riding to Laguna Negra observing the incredible variety of mountain flowers and possibly seeing the world's only high altitude humming bird. Visit to Eagle pass, the highest paved road in Venezuela at 4.047 meters high. Lunch in a local Andes restaurant. In the afternoon return to Mérida. Diner and lodge at Estancia Mucunuy a restored colonial hacienda that has recently won an international architectural award. 4th Day: Merida-Maiquetia-Barcelona Breakfast at Estancia Mucunuy, then short city tour of Mérida, including plaza Bolívar, the historic cathedral, museums etc... After lunch, transfer to Mérida airport and flight to Maiquetia international Airport. Flight to Barcelona capital of the Anzoategui State. Diner and overnight stay at Hesperia Puerto La Cruz. 5th Day: Barcelona-Canaima Early in the morning transfer to the airport. Flight to the angel's fall along the border of the Auyan Tepuy and into the diablo´s canyon, landing in Canaima National Park. There you will enjoy a beautiful day tour in the amazon, a nice walk under the Sapo fall, where you can feel the power of a waterfall running above you, riding to El Hacha fall, one of the most impressive fall in the Canaima lagoon area. After lunch you will be spending some time with the local "Pemon" Indians. In the evening diner at Parakaupa camp and overnight stay. 6th Day: Canaima-Ciudad Bolivar In the morning after breakfast you will be able to relax and enjoy the Canaima lagoon, lunch at Parakaupa camp.15:00 hours flight to Ciudad Bolívar, diner and overnight stay at Hotel Las Lajas. 7th Day: Ciudad Bolivar-Orinoco Delta Early in the morning we will drive from Ciudad Bolívar to Tucupita capital of the Delta Amacuro state where we will take a boat ride through dense tropical forest all the way to Mis Palafitos camp in the middle of the Orinoco Delta. After lunch we will enjoy a nice walk in the swampy ground of the delta forest to experience and learn more about the typical vegetation (moriche "palm tree", bora, mangle). At the end of the day we will watch the sunset and search for alligators and monkeys in the borders of the river. Diner and lodge at the Palafito camp. 8th Day: Orinoco Delta After a nice breakfast in the middle of the Orinoco Delta surrounded by monkeys, parrots and the most wonderful vegetation, we will visit a local Warao Indian community. Lunch at the camp and in the afternoon Piraña fishing on the Manamo river near the camp. .Diner and lodge at Mis Palafitos camp . 9th Day: Orinoco Delta-Maiquetia Early in the morning after breakfast, flight from Tucupita to Margarita then at 11:00 hours flight from Margarita to Maiquetia arriving at 11:35.
